What can you do with a theology degree? This question may arise in your mind if you are pondering on a religious vocation. Theology, in its most popular form, refers to the application of religious beliefs and principles to the study and implementation of societal structures. It is therefore not uncommon to find religious leaders from different denominations applying their theological principles to develop institutions like schools, hospitals, businesses, and social services. Religious educators play an active role in developing the public policies that shape modern society.

 

Aside from a theology degree, some students within the program may also consider pursuing careers as counselors, church administrators, or spiritual leaders. These career choices allow them to utilize their leadership skills in different aspects of society. Counselors are usually found in hospitals and other similar institutions. A church administrator is usually found in a primary or secondary school, acting as a teacher and leader of the flock.

 

What can you do with a theology degree? Those who choose to become a clergy or pastor have the chance to help guide the church’s members of the community towards a particular path in life. They play a significant role in the spiritual growth of their congregation. Since they exercise a spiritual role, they must be knowledgeable about religious studies and teachings.

You can either teach full time or part time, depending on what your schedule permits. The majority of theology jobs are located in the South because of the diversity of people there. In addition, your youth worker training may require that you work with troubled teens, so you need to be prepared to handle any situation that arises. Be prepared to go through a tough job interview process as you seek employment as a youth worker.
